The concept behind animated gifs:

So this is going to show you the basic concept on how to create an animated gif using Adobe ImageReady.

Step 1: Pick the pictures you want to animate together. I’m using these two pictures.

Step 2: Open the file you are going to use as your first frame. Then go to File>Place… and choose the file you want to use for the second frame, the animated gif I am going to make is only going to be 2 frames.

Step 3: As you can see the file you placed became a new layer inside of your image. Now hide the layer you just placed by clicking on the eye next to it in the layers panel.

Step 4: Now go down to your Animation panel. If it is not open you can access it from Window>Animation. In the Animation panel click on the new frame button on the bottom. You will see another frame with the same thumbnail image appears. What you want to do is with that frame selected hide the layer that is used for the first frame and unhide the layer for the second frame.

Step 5: Now under each frame is time setting, this setting is how long the frame will be shown for. For this one I would do something like 1 second for the first frame and like 1.5 seconds for the second frame to get a good flowing animation.

Step 6: Now to save this file as an animated gif, go to File>Save Optimized As

This is what you final product should look like:
